Wellington is the capital city of New Zealand. It is located in the south of the northern island. It is the world’s windiest city with average wind speed. It is the second-most populous city in New Zealand after Auckland. Wellington’s economy is based on services in finance, business services, and tourism. Popular tourist attractions include the Museum of New Zealand (Te Papa museum), Wellington Museum, Wellington Zoo, Zealandia, Wellington Cable Car, and Cruise tourism. You should also visit its cultural sights, like the National Archives and the National Library. There are interesting architectural sights, such as the Old Government Buildings, which is one of the largest wooden buildings in the world, the iconic Beehive and the executive wing of Parliament Buildings.
Wellington is the motion picture locations for many great movies, such as The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, Avatar, The Hunger Games, Man of Steel, X-Men, The Wolverine, The Avengers, Iron Man 3, and District 9. The city has more to offer. Visiting Natural parks is one of them. Take a road trip to Harcourt Park or Kaitoke Park then you will know that its scenery and abundance of nature are also two of them. Admiring mirror lakes is also one. People and the city’s clean fresh air are in it as well. Study in Wellington will give you more answers and if you would let your thoughts and ideas flow along with all those, it will be a great journey not to anywhere else but into yourself.
Cool city for international students
Wellington is more than ready to welcome international students. There are quite a number of certified language schools and institutions in the City. Most of them are located in the city center. They offer a variety of courses, such as Intensive English Course, IELTS Preparation Course, and High School/University Preparation Course all year round. One of the most popular courses is Diploma Courses in various fields. There are many public schools, which is free to its citizen, and relatively more affordable tuitions for international students. There are also private high schools and international colleges available. Wellington also offers a variety of college and university programs for tertiary students, such as The University of Otago that is famous for Medicine and Health, Massey University and Victoria University of Wellington that offer courses in communication and business, engineering and technology, health and well-being, and creative arts. Those who obtain student visas are also allowed to work part-time up to 20 hours per week. You would also be granted a number of years of work permit visa after you are graduated.
Living well in Wellington
Living in Wellington is chill and easy. There are public buses and rails as its main public transportations. You can choose to stay with a local host family provided by your school and move to a shared apartment or student dormitory that is closer to the city center later if you want to. There are local markets and groceries that you can find almost everything you need. You should not miss all events and festivals held in Wellington. There are many cool festivals and live music as well. Sometimes you can just do café hopping as there are many nice ones in town. Taking a road trip on the weekend is also a must do in Wellington. Kumutoto national forest, Waiorogonmai Rimutaka Forest Park, and Table Top in Tararua Forest Park are great destinations for your trips. Studying in Wellington, the coolest little capital, would gift you beyond your expectation.
